JBT-SmallBusinessLegislation aimed at alleviating some of the financial burdens faced by small business start-ups passed out of the Senate State Government Committee yesterday. 

State Senator Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant is a co-sponsor of the proposal that would reduce the fees collected by the Secretary of State for creating a limited liability company (LLC) from $500 to $39.

“Our current LLC filing fee is one of the highest in the nation,” Bertino-Tarrant said.  “If we expect our state to be competitive in the business arena, we must find ways to promote and encourage small business growth.”

JBT-Satellites2014Senator Bertino-Tarrant will be holding satellite office hours throughout the district over the course of the next few months. Her first stop for the year will be in Oswego the third week of February. 

The Oswego satellite office event will be held Thursday, February 20 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Oswego Village Hall (100 Parkers Mill, Oswego, IL).

“It's important that area residents have the opportunity to meet with district staff and me to discuss local and individual concern,” Sen. Bertino-Tarrant said.

Area residents are welcome to attend the satellite office hours to discuss state government or community issues.  Many other services are also provided. Residents can receive assistance with FOID card applications, food stamp issuance, healthcare, veteran or disability issues, Medicare paperwork, foreclosure prevention assistance and much more.

JBT-WeberThe Weber Road interchange running through Will and DuPage counties is known by residents and commuters as one of the most heavily congested areas in all of Chicagoland. 

Legislation, sponsored by Senator Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant in the Senate and Representative Natalie Manley in the House, signed into law by the governor on Monday will remove one of the final obstacles holding back the Interstate 55 and Weber Road interchange construction project that is intended to ease traffic.

JBT-friends of education awardLast week, Senator Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant (D-Shorewood) received the Will County Friends of Education Award from the Will County Regional Office of Education.

“I am honored to have received this award from the Will County Regional Office of Education,” Senator Bertino-Tarrant said.  “It is gratifying to know they support the work I am trying to do in Springfield.”
