ISAC- Fiancial Aid Process PresentationState Senator Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant (D-Shorewood) will partner with the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) later this month to hold a presentation on college financial aid for area high school students.

The meeting will take place on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014 at the Joliet Public Library (3395 Black Road, Joliet, IL) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

“As high school students begin to assess their higher education goals, we want to ensure that they understand what financial aid options are available to them and the deadlines for completing necessary paperwork in order to receive funding,” Senator Bertino-Tarrant said.

ISAC representatives will walk students and their parents through the process of applying for financial aid and explain how to avoid some of the most common pitfalls in the process.

“Funding for Illinois’ need-based financial aid program – MAP grants – is made available on January 1 each year and awarded until the funds are depleted,” Bertino-Tarrant said. “That’s why it is imperative that students who are interested in attending college next year begin thinking about their financial aid applications now.”

Senator Bertino-Tarrant encourages area high school students and their parents to attend the free seminar to learn important information that can save them money as they prepare for college. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP by contacting Senator Bertino-Tarrant’s district office at
