Medicare 101 WorkshopSHOREWOOD- Last week, State Senator Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant (D-Shorewood) partnered with AARP to hold a Medicare 101 Workshop.

“I want to ensure seniors and their caregivers have accurate information on Medicare and other essential programs,” Bertino-Tarrant said. “I look forward to having more events with AARP in the future.”

The workshop catered to current Medicare beneficiaries, individuals about to become eligible for Medicare and caregivers for those enrolled in the program.

Community members attending the event were able to get their questions answered and receive important information regarding how the Affordable Care Act impacts Medicare beneficiaries.

Bertino-Tarrant has made it a priority to hold community events for older adults. She hosted a Senior Breakfast with AARP this summer that provided tips on how to keep your brain healthy and has spoken to groups of seniors about state issues.

Hiring FairJOLIET — State Senator Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant (D-Plainfield) partnered with the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) to hold a successful hiring fair this week.

“Job fairs are important for connecting employers with community members who are looking for work,” Bertino-Tarrant said. “I enjoyed meeting those who attended, and I look forward to having future events that will help people obtain employment.”

More than 50 people showed up to meet with representatives from participating businesses. The first hour of the hiring fair catered specifically to veterans.

“Our veterans have loyally served our nation, and I’m committed to doing what I can to make sure they’re employed,” Bertino-Tarrant said.
