anderson groundbreaking 2State Sen. Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant (D-Shorewood) participated in a groundbreaking ceremony for a project that will bring businesses and jobs to Shorewood.

The plan, which Bertino-Tarrant pushed for, will allow for land at the northwest corner of the intersection of Routes 59 and 52 in Shorewood to be redeveloped.

“More businesses and jobs will be coming to Shorewood,” Bertino-Tarrant said. “This initiative is good for the community, and I look forward to continuing to support projects that will enhance economic development throughout my district.”

Currently the property has two buildings where businesses are located. The plan will improve existing facilities and add on a new brick-faced building with close to 6,000 square feet where Anderson’s Family Restaurant was once located.

The Anderson’s, a long-standing Shorewood family, own the property that will be redeveloped.

The goal is to have coffee shops, sandwich shops and other establishments in the new building that area residents can enjoy.

Construction for the redevelopment is expected to start in October.

More than 50,000 vehicles pass the property each day, making it an ideal place for shops and restaurants.
